Default PCM problems

Hello folks. I'm new to the site and am glad to be part of it.

I have a 2000 f-150 4x4 5.4L lariat supercab with 198,000 miles.

The grounding strap on the firewall rubbed through the insulation on the #4 ignition coil connector ground wire, which blew the #4 coil along with #30 fuse which feeds coils, PCM relay, cluster and PATS.
Coil and fuse have been replaced. Truck seems to run great, very smooth, although the fuel economy seems to be slightly off. The problem is that my scan tool will not link to the PCM. It powers on but wont establish a link.
I have taken the truck to O'reillys and AutoZone to have them use their scan tools, and theirs link to the PCM but give only a p1000 code for drive cycle incomplete and a code for airbag sensor not responding. Since the first P1000 code, I have driven this truck about 400 miles over a weeks time, and still when I take it to O'reilly's it gets the p1000 code for drive cycle incomplete, and my scan tool still will not link to the PCM.
I have also noticed that the remote entry sometimes does not unlock the doors requiring me to use the keypad on the drivers side.
I am concerned that the PCM may have been damaged when the #4 coil was shorted.
Any suggestions on how to determine for sure if there is a PCM problem.
Thanks for any advise you can give me.

Did your scan tool connect prior to the issue? If AZ and O'Reilly is getting a P1000, it is working.

I agree that the P1000 code isn't a fault code and is suppose to go away when test is completed but I have seen a couple of times where the code just never clears away. I've never heard an explanation about what causes that to happen.

yes, the scan tool worked before, but there is an update to this problem. Long story short, there were two broken wires in the scan tool and the batteries had died in the remote. i resoldered wires in scan tool and replaced the batteries in the remote. as it turns out, there was nothing wrong with the truck after i replaced the coil and fuse.

How did your scan tool effect what AZ and O'R were getting?

My scan tool showed no codes, but indicated that all sensors were ready except for EVAP. It did not pick up a code for the airbag.

The EVAP monitor is usually the most difficult to get to run. The operating conditions have to be Goldilocks. I've seen it take days, weeks and even months, in extreme cases, to run. The good news, if any, is that most state emission testing programs allow at least one incomplete monitor to be present and still pass any emissions testing required for licensing. Depending on the year, it might even be two incomplete monitors.

It did not pick up a code for the airbag.
Not uncommon since the SRS system doesn't communicate through the PCM. Since you didn't explicitly identify what you are working on or what scan tool you are using, it's impossible to advise you further on that except to look for a two-digit lamp flash code at start-up and then look it up in the service manual specific to your year, make, and model (again, not given).
