Ok Josh i made this mistake before on an 02 Focus. If you want to change your dash cluster you must take the vehicle to the dealership and leave it with them. THEY must remove the original instrument cluster and send it with the new cluster to an independent company that will set the mileage of the new cluster to the actual milage of your truck from your OE cluster. then they will send it back to the dealership and they will install the new cluster. It sucks because its just a single plug in the back of the cluster (real easy to do) BUT if you don't do it this way your vehicle will have the tampered odometer mark on the title forevermore and have NO resale value. so DO NOT change the cluster unless 1. you will never sell the truck so it doesn't matter or, 2. you have the $$ to let the dealership do it. There is NO other way around it. and for obvious reasons the independent company will not do it for you even if you send them both clusters ( i tried that too)

but yes the tach would work, its just an electrical signal.

Wink

see that is what i was thinking. i am from west Atlanta GA, and i called all around to the dealers and all of them told me it would be 90 bucks. but i got to rip every thing out so all they do is key the cluster and i put it all back... so i dont think thats a bad deal at all.. also what do you mean by the resale, i thought the computer on board kept that.... not the cluster... but i could be wrong.. and thanks for the input..

Yeah I thought that too but apparently not. I swapped the tachless cluster to a cluster with tach on an 02 focus. the mileage stays with the cluster. the reason the dealership needs to pull the cluster is that they can verify that it came from your vehicle and they can verify that there has been no odometer tampering especially if the new cluster has less miles on it. maybe in GA its different be real sure about it before you do it!
