Parking brake switch?
I just got my truck this past weekend and am still sorting things out.
Today I drove home from work (about 3.5 miles) with my parking brake fully engaged. Fortunately, it was snowing and I never got above 35ish in 4WD.
The brakes smelled hot when I got home and the car drifted back out of my driveway. Pushing the pedal farther finally got it to catch.
Now, the reason I left it brake set is because the brake light wasn't light and I forgot that I engaged it this morning. The lamp works because it energizes during the start up check.
I've read that there's an inexpensive switch on the parking brake pedal that can go bad or get out of alignment. Is it an easy fix? How much do they run and any recommendations as to where to get them? I need to get this fixed ASAP or it will definitely happen again. I set my e-brake even in my garage. I always have and always will.
Also, any speculation as to how bad I messed my brakes up? Or, does the F150 have a drum on the drive shaft? I'm hoping that I wore them just a bit but that tightening up the ebrake cable will rectify things.

If you have disk brakes the drum is built into the disk, the pads are on the inside. How bad you wore them out depends on how long you drove, you have to remove the wheel, the caliper, caliper mount to take off the disk, the pads will be behind there. The switch is 13.99 at auto zone.
