What parts should not be replaced with Motorcraft?
I've heard brakes so far, and that's about it.
I just replaced my fuel filter and rotors and pads (fuel filter is Motorcraft).
Next is the radiator. Motorcraft runs over $400. Every other brand is $100 or less. What's the verdict here? And in general, what parts don't need to be Motorcraft to be replaced effectively?

"Should not"? Nothing. I don't know of anything Motorcraft that I wouldn't put on my truck.
"Things that don't need to be Motorcraft" is what I think you probably meant. I have used aftermarket pads, rotors, drums, shoes, radiator, hoses, belt, wheel cylinders, brake hoses, shocks.... and all do fine. Probably some other stuff I've forgotten too, lol.

About the only thing Motorcraft that I have read repeatedly not to use are the brakes, which to be fair, were pretty crappy when they had OEM rotors.

Now an XLT in Colorado
I think the things that *do* have to be Motorcraft are plugs, coils, IAC, PCV, and of course some dealer-only parts for which you don't have an aftermarket option.
For the radiator I'd suggest Spectra Premium.

Spectra Premium is a decent radiator. I've had two Murray's in my truck in 5 years..... and one Spectra in the Stang.

Moog problem solver suspension parts are better than MC OEM. thicker, stronger, grease zerks... I don't think I'd take MC over moog.

If you buy a radiator, buy a 2 row to replace what ever you had. The price difference is a few bucks but your engine will love you if you have a single row you are replacing. Motorcraft doesn't make their own radiators, using another good brand is not a bad idea. I would go with Spectra or even Performance Radiator. I've had great luck with PR's replacements. Their pricing is really good. My buddy old Ford 360 powered dentside is still running a 433 PR we put in it in 96. No leaks and he uses the hell out of it in the woods dragging out logs and stuff.
