Default Painting ideas?

I wanna paint my rear end diff housing. Im plannin on just pressure washing all the dirt an gunk an stuff off an primering and painting it or will that seal like the bolts or somthing?

Take a steel brush to it before you paint, then clean, I use acetone. And you can paint over bolts, it's fine.

Won't effect the bolts... You'll just skin them up when you go to service the diff. I'd change the fluid before I painted it and throw a new seal on it before I did it. I'm planning on painting the one on my F-150 white. I did my Highboy silver the other day when I painted my axle black.

It doesnt leak on the driveway or anything but i still needa get it checked out dont i?

It just seeps, pop off the cover, throw on a new gasket, put in new fluid and paint away.

Well all the fluid will come out an ill have to replace that too

Beware with bought seals, some aren't that great and leak more. To be sure I bought a can of 'the right stuff' it's a liquid type gasket maker that works great for diff's

Yeah I've heard RTV works better than a cut gasket.

Also before painting I would get all the old fluid residue off or the paint won't have a good surface to bite to
