Was thinking about going flat black when I paint mine this summer. If you have the place to do it and the tools it will be an easy job. Flat black will also hide a lot more flaws then a gloss black paint job.

compressor, spray gun with the filter, an air hose, tap, plastic to cover **** up, that's the basics but it depends if you're doing single or double stage I don't much about paint though.maybe someone with more knowledge will come along.

your gonna need a **** load of tape! haha, but seriously you can paint flat black pretty easily. I painted a mustang flat black the other day. Bought the paint at sherman williams, its called "hot rod black" get a measuring cup, paint filters, stur sticks, auto masking tape, and alot of tarps, for the ground the motor (I recommend removing the hood for paint), get a good mask or your gonna get stoned and your paint wont turn out good haha. Any good painter will tell you that your paint job is all in the prep! make sure its all sanded out, and any bondo spots are block sanded, finish all your sanding with 400 grit, it seems to accept paint the best. because you are unsing flat black, you can probably get away with spray can primer, but be sure to fog it on don't gunk it on there or you'll get drips and then you got to sand those out. Your last sanding sand up then across, like a t, it helps the paint spread. Im sure I am forgetting stuff, but this is getting long. let me know if you have any questions!

so you are saying to use a gun to do this paint....I have seen so many where people used rollers, sounds sketchy but it usually seems to work out well

ok, i used bondo for all the little dents and gouges on the hood, then sanded down the whole hood with 400 grit, and smoothed the edges of the body filler, then primmed the hood with a couple of coates, then gave it two coates of black, but now the body filler is showing through the paint, what did i do wrong, or how can i fix it
