Not sure about your location but it really varies from shop to shop. You can get Maaco's best paint job for just under $1,000. Going to a private shop you will probably get estimates ranging from $1500 to $3000 depending on how much prep time is involved. Keep in mind, changing colors costs alot more. You will get charged extra to paint inside door jambs, edges of parts, under hood, and other hard to reach places.

Yes.

If it was a simple scuff, tape, and spray situation.

That means they'll leave all dents (more visible on black), and badges, where they are. They'll tape up door handles, (maybe keyholes), weather stripping, tires, bumpers, bed, and just spray what's visible. >>>>Door jambs will probably remain white, engine bay will stay white (no one will paint around it, so you have to remove engine if you wanted that painted) and quality won't be the best.

You could save a few by doing some work yourself, but it's up to you.

for a cheap job they would, i was quoted around 6500 to get my truck repainted same color couple coats of clear and to do all my jambs and align panels so it really depends what you are willing to spend, yes maaco will do it but it will mast 2-5 yrs max, when the 6500 job will last 10-20 yrs, so it is all what you are willing to pay.
