Default Paint / Decal question

So my driver side "Off Road 4x4" Decal was tattered, so I removed it (With a hot water pressure washer).

I am a little stumped. The area where the decal was is actually LOWER than the adjacent areas. Like there is a lip all around, as if the decal was put on, and then clear coat over the whole thing?? And I see that the paint underneath is much glossier... is there just that much build up that came off with the logo?

For you guys who have changed your decals, have you found this to be the case?

I was going to replace my logos, but you can clearly see where the old one was, so I think I am stuck getting the exact one I had?

Help?

The lip you are feeling is years of dirt and grime. You will need to cut and buff the bed sides to help blend the areas. Red is the hardest because the amount the paint will fade.

Upon inspecting the other side, I peeled up the edge of the decal, and it is flush underneath it.

Leads me to believe that the drivers side was repainted and re-clearcoated right over the sticker???

Depends on the shop that did it. I highly doubt it was reprayed over the decal. Looks like the adhesive is still instact. Try some goo gone to see if it cleans up.
