P1639 Question
I replaced my ECM replaced today and had it programed at a dealership. After picking up the Truck. The check engine light was on. I checked the OBD code with my scanner and I got P1639 Id Block corrupt or not programed. Went back to dealership they tried to tell me I had a bad ECM or wrong ECM. After talk tech were I bought the ECM he said that code just means that the VIN number wasn't programed into the ECM.
My questions if I don't have this corrected will it cause problems with driving the truck. Drove about 90 miles with it and it already runs better then it has the past year. Cause the dealership doesn't want to admit they may have not programed that in. They don't want to fix there mistake. I may have to pay another $125 to have it fixed at another dealership of course. If will it will drive fine with out having the VIN number programed into it I may wait to have it fixed and not spend the money.
So should I have it corrected now or wait?
