Default P1405 OBD Code

I thought I would add this post and maybe help someone else out that encounters the P1405 code "DPFE Sensor Upstream Hose" as I encountered it this week.

I was changing the plugs on my 2002 F150 (a daunting task I will discuss in another thread), after I finished I started my truck to see if there were any problems, of course there was, my check engine light was on. After inspecting my work I found one of the hoses going to the DPFE sensor was split. I wrapped electrical tape around it as a temporary fix in hopes that would make the light go off. It didn't and I spent the next 3 hours pulling my plugs and checking all of them again. No issues there so I went online on Amazon and purchase a Vgate Scanner and downloaded the Torque Check on to my phone. Got it the next day. The fault codes showed the P1405 fault, so I replaced both hoses to be sure. Fault code still there. I thought there was nothing left to do but replace the DPFE sensor for $60, fault code still there. It turns out that the steel lines that go into the intake were plugged up with a carbon buildup. Cleaned them out and problem was solved.

How did you clean the carbon from the steel lines?

Sorry I should have mentioned that. Long circular wire brush does the trick.
