Default P0782 2-3 Shift Fault

Hello, thanks for taking time to read this.

I have a 2000 F150, 5.4L 2V with the 4R70W A/T. Over the last couple of days, I have had some issues with the transmission. I have noticed, without any seemingly obvious cause, that my O/D light on my gear selector was flashing. I knew that this was the truck telling me there was a transmission code; however, everything seemed to still 'function' fine, albeit some shifts were really harsh all of a sudden, but I still had forward and reverse movement. I got my scan tool and pulled up a P0782 code, 2-3 Shift Fault.

Over the course of time that I have had this truck I've noticed that the 2-3 shift was always a little eccentric, the primary characteristic I've noticed with it is that the 2-3 shift sometimes takes a full second to complete while giving the truck throttle. The truck will be cruising a long, shift out of second, RPMs would run high for a solid second, then it would go into third. Initial assumption was slipping clutches; however, this only happens at the start of a drive and it was never quite consistent.

Doing some research on the code, I've come to the possibility that this is either the solenoid, the 2-3 valve, or the 2-3 accumulator. Part of my research also led me to trying to pull the negative battery terminal and then letting the truck reset shift points and such. I did that earlier today and all of the hard shifting/O/D flashing has stopped. However, even if it is working now, I would like to take some preventative measures to prevent this from being catastrophic.

Fluid is good, non-burned/odorous and is fresh and to the appropriate levels at this time. I am making this post because between the three possibilities listed above, I'm not sure which is most probable and even if I go about dropping the valve body I am not 100% what I would be looking for on this. Does anyone have any suggestions as the potential leading cause of these issues?

Thanks!
