P0405 mil code?

Default P0405 mil code?

hi my son has a 03 f150 5.4 4x4 i recently took it in to be inspected and it failed due to mil code P0405 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor A Circuit Low nys requires a clear mil before it can pass inspection (it still cost me $21 bucks and another $11 if i bring it back within 10 days. so what should i look for? thanks!

Buy a generic scanner from walmart and clear the code. More than likely it needs a sensor. Some egr's use a sensor integrated into the egr itself. So you may need to have the egr replaced.

it's the egr sensor. mine through the same thing about 2 months ago. called my buddie at the ford shop and thats what he told me to replace. put it in and took it care of the problem. cost me around $70.00 with tax at advance auto.

found the problem it was a cracked vac hose that comes off the exhaust manifold tube . thanks

Default Meaningless Regulations:

...glad the fix was so easy....too bad that your state has those meaningless and expensive vehicle emission inspection rules. I hold my breath that Florida won't succumb to the bleeding-heart do-gooders that insist on establishing the vehicle inspection nonsense.

Florida did have mandatory vehicle inspection because the accident rate from vehicular mechanical failure was reported to be 1.34% annually. After eight years and millions spent on inspections the accident rate from mechanical failure improved all the way down to .....1.34% !! Our esteemed governor was successful at ending the inspection nonsense and the accident rate due to mechanical failure fell to 0.7% annually. If you want it done wrong, let government do it.
