Oh yea, don't let any sweat drip on the coils, they may short out once you turn the key. Wrap a bandana around your skull.

Did 6 of 8 coils and plugs. Left 7 and 8 for next weekend due to 100+ temps outside.

Truck runs really smooth again, with far more power than it had. Need to fix minor coolant leak by number 5 as mentioned above.

I bought this truck with 14k on it and at 210k now. Really want to hit the 250k mark before I get another one. Not leaking fluids, so driveway stays nice and clean.

When it comes to coils... Guess the lesson learned is cheap parts work for a while... but quality parts are the way to go if you plan to keep the vehicle.

(did sway bar ends today too... something about missing rubber....) Truck is running good and ready for a bath. Might as well make it look as good as it is running.

Sounds like you have a handle on it, you'll like it, it'll feel like a new truck, IF your injectors are clean enough.
True. I put knock offs in my Escape one time and 3 of them started to misfire on me in 2 weeks.

Buy the OEM stuff. Well worth it.

Put about 20 miles on it today and it started to stutter again. Pending 0172 again.

Thinking a injector on that bank?

Put new injectors and finished the coil/plugs while fuel rail was loose.

Ran nice and smooth again until the computer monitoring systems came up, then started idling rough. Had to go to work, so back to it in the morning. Glad I kept my old ford van to drive around on days like this... it runs good and has cold AC.

Will look to see what the MAF looks like, and what the fuel trims and things are.

What information is needed to help diagnose this? Have some basic software on the laptop that uses a bluetooth adapter, and thinking of one of the phone apps.

Ok, back to it.

Have new plugs, coil packs, and fuel injectors installed.

Fuel pressure is at 32psi at idle, and barely drops when revved.

Runs really smooth most of the time, except at idle. then if it sits for a bit it stumbles, until revved up or I get rolling again.

Cleaned MAF sensor and it ran a whole lot smoother after that, but would still stumble occasionally at an idle, and now throws a 172 and 175.

Throttle position reports it is at 20% at idle.

Since cleaning MAF sensor changed things, and it's tied to both banks, and fuel pressure seems good. Thinking of getting a MAF sensor.

Replaced MAF sensor. Engine runs nice and smooth. If I reset codes and get on highway, it stays off. At stop and go, slow speeds it still wants to generate a 0172. Missfires have gone away, and 02 reading are really close to the same on both banks.

Scratchin my head and searching the threads for an answer.
Read this guys thread and seems very similar to my problem.

How high are the % reading for your banks?

I set the Torque Pro to graph the short and long term fuel trims for that bank.

Short term will bounce around a little , between -5 and +5 percent driving around.
Long term stays between -8 and -18 percent, with the -15/-18 range when sitting at an idle.

Reset computer by taking negative terminal off for a while, then put it on and got on highway. Went about 70 miles, mainly 60+ speeds, with some stop and go. Went to pending 0172 when I pulled in driveway. Have reset again, and no codes yet, but on way back to work is when I recorded the fuel trims.
