Default Overheating

My 97 f150 with the 4.6l has been sitting since july. I just put a new tranny in and now while driving my oil light will come on but the pressure gauge is fine. Also the engine temp gauge goes into the red. My heat also wasnt working. Is it the thermostat?

If the oil light is what it think it is, then its just how the light is designed. Ford designed some of those lights to turn on with the temp light, and vice versa. As far as the overheating issue, i found this thread. Maybe it could be of some help.

I think the oil light comes on because the oils hot, or the levels change because of the heat. once the motor cools it goes off

But the light is a combined light, right? I would think that if there was a problem with either, the light would come on. Though i guess the purpose was that if one had a problem, the other would soon follow, or actually caused it. I only say this due to the fact when a QX56 did it because of a bad sensor, but the temp was dead set in the middle.
