overdrive wont shift

my 97 f 150 will not shift with the manual button on end of shifter no light comes on i suspect a broken wire in shift tube or colum how hard to fix? truck shifts fine automatically

The overdrive button if it hasnt changed from 94 should pop out after you take the plastic end of the shifter off where the button is

Quite common for the wires to break where shifter meets column.

I bought new shifter with button for $35 on ebay and took 30 minutes to replace. Worked perfect!!!!!!
