finally got around to fixing my overdrive button today.

Common for wires to short out

In my case, from the failure point a the lever, all the way to the plug was totally burnt up. I mean insulation was missing off of one wirer, charred away , others melted together. So I had to get the lever apart, switch out, and install all new wires, and solder them to the socket terminals of the plug. Took longer than anticipated. A lot longer. Spent maybe 5 hrs on this .

But...it works again now.

 

Did it affect the trans being shorted out?

only that couldnt turn overdrive off

if fuse dont burn out, or even if it do, wire burns thru. They are small wires
