Default overdrive button?

I have a 2001 f150 automatic. How hard is it to change out the overdrive button on the shifter. My button won't cycle so if I tow something I can't take it out of od.

Pretty easy. Take the cover off your steering column and you will see a pin that drives out fairly easy. You will remove the shift lever and unplug the od connector and replace. I replaced mine with the dorman unit. No complaints.

Haven't run into it myself but talk to 2003XLT about this issue, he may be able to help with a loose connection, his was the other way around... No OD... Not sure where he found his issue but remember he had one years ago and fixed it...

No need to mess with airbag. Just remove the upper and lower steering column cover.

Hello, having a similar issue with the O/D and the delete switch. The O/D wasn't working so we just hit the button all the time. Not ideal, I know. But then that stopped working. I checked the fuses, good. I removed the shift lever, wires were good, had continuity in all three. I found a button on line and replaced it, but issue remains. I use three small wires and 'jump' the switch which takes it out of O/D, and also turns the 'autolamp feature system on (but only for a moment). Another indication that the wires are making good connection. Wondering if "new" switch was bad as well. Anyone know how to test the switch with an ohm meter? Or any other good ideas?
