Over Drive light blinks
I bought my 97 F150 ext. cab lariat 4X4 for $1500 about a week ago. It is an automatic with the 4.6L in it. It has 199,000+ miles, and the motor still seems strong. My problem is that every now and then the Overdrive light will start blinking and it seems like the transmission starts getting confused as to what gear it wants to be in. As far as i can tell, the tranny does not slip. Any Ideas?
Oh and the 4wd does not engage either. - But there are threads for that.

my truck did the same thing a while ago, i pulled off the end cap on the shifter where the o/d button is pulled the switch out and put it back in, never had a problem since, just something u mighrt try.
does the light come on in the dash? if it does then its either a vaccum or the acctuator for locking in the front end is sticky, just spray some wd40 on therwe and have someone work the shaft back and forth

I will give that a try tonight.
as far as the 4wd. The light on dash only comes on when I first start the truck. Nothing happens when I turn the 4wd **** though
OH yea i think this truck has a super chip on it. can that cause some of my problems?
