Old Same Towing Question
I just purchased a 6440 pounds dry TT and I'm thinking that my 2003 F150 FX4 might be underpowered a little... I tried to look it all up even by Vin and I get it all mixed. 8800, 7800... Some say 5000 and some say 6000. Hitch says 8000.. Sticker on door says 6750. I am for sure going to use a WD system and brake controller. Travel nothing major for now like 100 to 300 mile trips. If I could swap for a F250 I would but for now its what I got F150 FX4. 125k
Any feedback from people who tow about same. Thanks in advance.

Here's what my VIN lookup states; but its even more confusing ... specially within the WTD area..
Gross Combined Wt Rating = 12,500, 13,000 lbs
Dead Weight Hitch - Max Trailer Wt.5,000, 4,000 lbs
Dead Weight Hitch - Max Tongue Wt.500, 400 lbs (400.0 min/500.0max)
Wt Distributing Hitch - Max Trailer Wt.8,800, 4,000 lbs
Wt Distributing Hitch - Max Tongue Wt.1,320, 600 lbs (600.0 min/600.0max)
Fifth Wheel Hitch - Max Trailer Wt.8,300, 4,000 lbs
Fifth Wheel Hitch - Max Tongue Wt.2,075, 1,000 lbs
so does it mean that with WT Distributing Hitch I can pull 8800 or 4000? ...
the hitch factory part states 800 tongue and 8800 max.
