Default Oil light

2001 Ford F150 V8 5.4 4x4
oil light comes when engine is cold but goes away when engine is warmed up...no oil leaks what would be the cause of this...I do need to change the oil filter but don't think that would cause the light to fluctuate...is there a way to test the oil pump to see if it's going bad or could it be the tube that might be getting clogged?

Oil pressure sender/switch.
However, I would at least change the oil and the filter before doing so. But the switch itself is fairly cheap and fairly easy to get too.
Since you have a 4x4 you will need a long socket extension.....LOL Unless you have freakishly long arms.
