Default Oil Filter Position

Possible to remove the oil filter only draining the filter oil?

I see the filter seats higher than the oil pan. Thx.

Yes, but you will need to add about a qt of oil when your done (capacity of the filter plus a little bit in the line).

I guess it would be possible. But why would you want to. 6 quarts of oil costs like 25 bucks. Might as well just do it all

I just changed my oil yesterday...think about it like this, your oil is dirty now and so is the filter, why would you put dirty oil into a new filter when you will have to change it again soon? I would suggest doing it all in one sweep...just easier in the long run
