Oil drain plug

Damage31, the plug is a 13mm wrench size (probably why it stripped), the original plug has a built in O ring, as its gasket. Just go to Ford and get the correct one and also buy the correct 13mm wrench for it. Just did my 37th oil change on 02, 4.2. Good as new. Its the human factor why things strip.

yes sir you are right. Im pretty sure a standard wrench went on there, but I knew it was MM because of the year. So I used a 13mm as well. Im about to be on oil change #43 and no problems with my bolt either.

you guys continue to amaze me by knowing how many times you've changed your oil! I am thoroughly methodical about changing mine but I couldn't tell you which # it is

Well don't I feel like an idiot....I read DRIPPING, not STRIPPING on damage's original post, which is why I suggested a new gasket. Kindly disregard my first remark, and listen to what the others said
