Default Odometer flickering.

Hey, guys! So, something peculiar has started happening as of a week ago. My odometer has been really dim lately. (Yes my dimmer dial thing is up all the way.) The weird part is that when I knock on the dash, or the gauge cluster it sort of flickers, gets brighter, or goes away completely. Any ideas as to what it would be? I'm not really sure. I've never seen it happen before.

Fairly common in our trucks. There's a thread in the how to section under electrical that walks you through it. You have to resolder the connection on the board on the cluster. If you have some sense about ya (don't take that the wrong way) it won't be difficult.

Try google first. No I'm not being a forum dick. I'm just saying if you google f150 odometer flicker than it will come up. As stated above all you have to do is take the gauge cluster apart and resolder a couple joints. Hardest part is taking the gauge cluster out. And that's not hard. If you don't know how to solder there videos on line. And you can get a decent soldering iron at harbor freight for like $12. It will do all you need to do on your truck in the future. Well worth the 12 dollar investment. Or if you are timid about doing it all take it to a shop and tell them what needs to be done. It should be relatively cheap Since it's all easy labor.

Had to do mine once around 100k, now at 200k it needs to be redone. Really not all that hard. Time consuming yes, hard no.

when I did mine on my old truck the hardest part was getting the headlight switch out. they break pretty easy.
somebody must have done the one in my current truck, the headlight switch almost falls out when I pull on the fog lights, I'm certain it's because somebody didn't know how to get it out properly.

just saying it comes out a certain way, rest of the job is super easy without instruction, just screws and soldering.
