Any OBD II scanner will work.
I got a cheap on for like $15 years ago and it works fine.
Many have used a cheap bluetooth adapter and their Android phone with the Torque app also.

I bought an ELM327 Bluetooth on Ebay for 15 dollars, and the aforementioned Torque app matches perfectly with it. HOWEVER, if you have an Apple phone, you need to get one that uses Wi-Fi direct. Pansy Apple won't allow generic Bluetooth devices to connect to their products.
