Default OD flashing

2003 F150 V8 5.3 TRITON. OD flashing when started. Idles fine. Sputters almost to a stall when put in D or R. Throwing codes. P0043, P1451, P1747, P0755, P0743, P0135, P0155, P0403. Any ideas what could be causing the sputter? I've been told by a mechanic plugs/coils? I'm thinking more in the lines of electrical?

P1747 is why it is sputtering. This code has something to do with the electronic pressure control solenoid- EPC. This sol is responsible for line pressure control in the trans. Once the PCM loses control of trans pressure, teh trans could slip which will damage friction components in the trans. To prevent this, the PCM reduces torque by killing cylinder when you put it in gear. Fix this code and you fix the sputter.

Have a look at the wire harness going down to the transmission on the passenger side. They sometimes come loose and rub through or come in contact with the exhaust and end up shorting. Look at the fuses too.

Awesome. Thank you. My mechanic still says coil pack but these seem like easier fixes.

Sounds more like a blown fuse that powers all of those circuits than anything else. Follow up on formerjeepguy's tip.

Since the OP didn't identify the YEAR of the truck, not possible to dig into the concern.

Default OD flashing

It’s an 03. Checked all fuses and all seem ok.

Inspect the harness under the truck for shorts to chassis, rub trough and exhaust burn.
All the codes are for functions under and to the rear of the truck.
If your mechanic would look up the codes and use a little thinking instead of guessing, he would see this.
If the codes and drivability are repeating, I would think the fuse powering the functions is still good. One day that fuse will blow if this keeps up.
Good luck.

Your symptom is a loss of operating power for a number of circuits on a common feed.

Go back and do a closer inspection/test of fuse F23 under the hood including the box's contacts. Even if it "looks good", put a meter on the and make sure it is actually passing power (HOT in RUN/START).

I suspect either your scan tool didn't display all of the fault codes stored. Probably need to advance to the next page on the display. A fault in this fuse circuit usually causes anywhere up to a dozen and a half fault codes, depending on the year and engine. Operational symptoms are an automatic transmission and an engine that can't drive out of a wet paper bag as well as a flashing OD light and a MIL.
