Default OBD-2 Code 01-Fuel Volume Regulator Control

Check engine light came on a couple of days ago after I noticed my fuel mileage seemed to be less than normal. My scanner threw an 01 code which translates into Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit Open. My manuals mention nothing about a fuel volume regulator. I did clean the MAF sensor. Does anyone have any experience with this code and what the heck is it? My truck is an '03 F150, 4.2 liter V-6 with a five speed manual and has 70k miles on it.

The only thing that regulates fuel is the fuel pressure regulator, it is vacuum controlled and mounted on the fuel rail. I would make sure the vacuum line did not fall off, if it is connected, relieve the fuel pressure first. Pull the regulator off and if you have a vacuum tester put some vacuum on it. It it holds vacuum it should be fine. If not replace it.

Thanks for the input. I'll check the regulator tomorrow and let everyone know if this is the mysterious "01" code fix. I appreciate the quote from Gen. Patton, too! Thanks again for your suggestion.

Being Military the quote goes with the job, I hope that fixes it though.
