Default o2 sensor changed, when will light go off?

went to autozone and had code read and it was p0153 so i changed the upstream sensor like the guy told me and check engine light is still on, i disconnected the battery and it was off then went on after 2 miles, i have only driven the truck total of 10 miles since i changed it, will it go off after so many miles if that was the problem or do i need to get it reset? any help would be great, just bought the truck sat and put it on the road today and sure enough after ten minutes of driving the check engine light went on so just trying to figure it out because i need to get it inspected within ten days, thanks

If you unhooked the battery and the light was cleared then it came back on two miles down the road you didn't fix the problem. If you're in a hurry you should probably bite the bullet and take it to get fixed correctly.

Go back to autozone and have them pull the code just to make sure its the same one you were fighting before. If so reset it and see if it comes back on again. BTW just to make sure you know that code is electrical for your O2 sensor so more than likely your heater circuit...P0153---is the drivers side of the engine(bank #2) it is the first O2 upstream of the cat., which would be the one closest to the engine or exhaust manifold, however you want to look at it.
