noise when stepping on side steps

Default noise when stepping on side steps

I just started hearing this noise on my truck when somebody puts foot on the side steps but only on the right side, and i dont mean the side steps are loose or anything noise is comin from the front right wheel.. what could it be .. some say rod?

Well you need to lift it up and inspect it it could be a dry bushing even

I'm pretty sure my side steps didn't have bushings on them when I took them off just bolted straight to the truck

I am having the same problem on my 98. I took it mudding a few months ago and its been doing it ever since. I have been spraying all the bushings with some lube ( wd40, pb blaster, etc.) It stops the squeak for a few days then o have to spray them down again. Finally I looked into what it mite be and it turns out that the lower ball joints are bad. I don't have the money to replace them rite now so I just keep spraying them every few days
