The speed sensor is in the rear differential on these trucks. Some with the 4R100 (E40D) also have a VSS on the tail of the transmission.

What did you take out, what year is your truck, etc. The year in GEN 10 trucks, really makes a big difference.

my F150 4x4 Sport is a 03 that originally came out with 4R70W transmission and with electric motor in transfer case ....auto tranny went out so a bought M5R2 out of a 01 F150 4x4 .....the 4R70W had a sensor near tail shaft ....The M5R2 doesn't.have nothing besides back up light ....hoping .i can use my 03 transfer case instead of having to go buy manual transfer case out of 01 considering I have everything bolted up.... i know the 01 have sensor in transfer case that is same as my 4R70W but lot of work to change it out to get speed odometer to work ....hope there is a fix ....can't believe i didn't notice this until yesterday when i went to change manual transmission wiring harness

I hate to resurrect an old thread, but I just recently had my tranny die in my truck and have a M5R2 I can grab right now from a friend. Will the 4R70 transfer case work on the 5 speed transmission?
