i did the GOTTS mod today and looked in my intake elbow and theres no silencer that i can see. ?? any ideaS? its a 2002 xlt

 

It should be there. If u notice the inside o the elbow is smooth and a consistent size throughout the bend. Once u take it out it will be considerably wider. Use a screw driver and you'll be able to pry them apart.

 

Look at the size of the elbow on the outside... Now look inside... The plastic is not 1" thick more like 1/8" so if there is a substantial difference from the outside dimensions to the inside the silencer is in there... It's just a tube with a hole in it to let the air swirl through the outer chamber...

 

Does removing this do anything for performance? Not just for sound?

 

Its just for sound. And even at that its not that much louder. I probably should have saved those 30 minutes of my life. lol
