Default No Crank

Mornin guys, need some help please.

1997 Ford F150 6 cyl 4.2 standard shift.

Getting nothing when turning key. Can hear slight buzzing under hood for about 4 or 5 seconds when key is turned.

Checked and replaced a couple of fuses both inside and under hood. Found bad fusible link between solenoid and alternator and replaced that.

Solenoid was dead, replaced that still nothing. It will start up bypassing solenoid straight to starter or laying screwdriver acrossed solenoid bolts. I'm thinking about bypassing ignition with toggle to solenoid but was hoping for some advice about other stuff to check and how to check it before I go that route.

I have multimeter and used it to check voltage on starter and solenoid connections but I'm not close to being and expert at using it. Could it be a bad relay? Don't have relay puller so I haven't yanked them out.

Appreciate any help. Oh yeah, I got into this mess by reversing battery cables.

Thanks - Mike

Check the cables on the starter itself. Mine come lose and coroad enough it doesnt get contact. Is your batt toast. Relay puller? Never heard of one.. I just grab and pull.

Not the starter or solenoid. Like I said, I can cross bolts with screwdriver so power goes directly to starter and it works. I can also cross bolts with screwdriver on solenoid and that works as well.

I don't think I'm getting poser from ignition to little screw thingy on solenoid. It has a little rubber cap that pulls off.

Any suggestions for further testing.

Thanks - Mike
