Rebuilt the trans didn't change shift solenoids it trys to take off in second and shifts hard into first floor it around 20 and it down shifts hard to first then back up to second will get a video later when I get home any ideas on what's causing this? On another note lost reverse no long after I noticed these symptoms

 

What were the symptoms before the rebuild? Did you go through the valve body? Did you replace the thrust washers? Could be a number of things.

 

checked all the thrust washers went throught the valvebody changed the torque converter
symoptoms was 3rd gear flaring at highway speeds sometimes a little torque converter shudder when shifting right before it went out then (400 miles or so before) felt like it was in neutral sometimes when i stopped or was coming to a stop coasting to a stop sign then a harsh engagement back to first. only slipped really bad twice then went completely out i had reverse and was able to back up to a friends house maybe a 1/4 mile. pulled to my house reverse was slipping horribly when i was backing up into my shop. pulled the transmission rebuilt it cleaned and inspected the valve body replaced the weak springs.

 

Something obviously went wrong during the rebuild. A full disassembly is in order to find the issue. Check for cut or twisted seals. You did soak all frictions before assembly I hope?

what did you during the rebuild?

did you replace the clutch piston lip seals?

did you use lip seal protectors when installing the piston in the drum?

did you replace the teflon seals on the out put shaft for the direct drum?

did you replace the teflon seals on the input shaft for the forward clutch?

did you replace the metal seal rings on the output shaft and front pump stator?

did you clean the debris from the valve body and make sure all valves move freely with no binding/sticking?

did you use new valve body gaskets?

did you use the correct valve body gaskets? 96-2000 valve body gaskets are different from 2001 and up gaskets

did you torque the valve body bolts properly?

did you make sure the old orange filter seal was removed from the valve body before you installed the new filter?

did you use a new filter?

is the fluid level correct? should have refilled with 13-14 qts of fluid and checked it with engine/trans at normal operating temp, on level ground with engine running.

 

Yes to all of the above I'm mind boggled as to what it could be because I did everything right to my knowledge
