Default Newly Installed Super44

Just the other I got a flowmaster super 44 installed and truthfully i expected a little bit louder. the truck is stock 99 4.6 and the muffler only sounds really good at about 2,000 rpms in 1-3 gear, anything after it sounds stock.

I'm thinking about dumping it right after the muffler, good idea? ive read it will make it deeper sounding and a little louder.

thoughts?

remove your rear cats and ull hear the difference, I went thru the same experience with a ranger i use to have.. gutted the rear cat and man it sounded nice!

Or replace with high flow cats if u want to keep it legal under emmission/inspection

i get a guy once a week at the shop with the same issue! its because the rear cats on these trucks muffle the exhaust so much! the only thing to do is delete the rear cats or install high flows. do not dump the exhaust under the truck!! it sounds terrible imo and the condensation in your exhaust will rust everything! if you dont want to touch the cats then strait pipe it cause thats about the loudest you can go without removing them. and its still not that loud! lol

I have a 97 4.6l with a super 44 muffler as well but i also cut the back two cats off which you should do, it gives it that deep mean rumble at low rpms and makes your truck sound beastly when you floor it

My 44 sounds killer. Might be bcz of your engine. Also it takes time ti break in. It sounds way better now than it did 5 months ago. Its got a real loud whistle to it.
