Default New key

Knock on wood. . . I haven't needed one yet. How much are the chipped ignition keys? I have had my truck since 2008 with only 1 key. Is the dealer the only place to get them?

The dealer I went to here in Michigan charged $80 when I lost mine! I didn't have much time to shop around as I was in the same position and lost my only key

since you on;y have one your gonna have to get it from the dealer, probably around 80 bucks like said. Now if on;y your already had two and wanted three, then you could buy cheap and program it yourself in 10 seconds. But the dealer will have to program the second if you only have one.

You can get them on ebay. Not sure if this is the exact key, but there are many available. You buy the blank on ebay, and have it cut to your current key at the hardware store. There are instrustions on the internet to program your computer to accept the key. The computer will accept up to 6 transponder codes. You can have it done at the dealer. It's usually about $80 for one key, and $130 for two keys. It takes them awhile to do it too. They actually have to bring the truck into the bay, and program it. It takes awhile for the truck to accept the transponder code, which is purposeful to prevent theft.

I only had one key and needed another for my remote start. I called a 24 hour locksmith who makes copies if keys. He charged me $50 to copy the key and program it. I called the dealership and I think they wanted like $150 bucks.
