Default new guy with 03

new here and new to trucks! i picked up a 03 F150 heritage edition the other day. super cab, 4wd, 5.4L, 177K miles. im new to trucks, iv'e always owned/built cars for the 1/4 mile. i didn't buy the truck to be a badass off roader, i bought it for towing my trans am to the track!

i would like to do a few things but dont know where to start. i want to preform a tune up because i dont know the last time it happend. i want a brush guard, and a lift. what all do i need to do to preform a lift? what wheels/tires? do i have to swap gears after? what kind of lift? a friend said i can do it cheaply by buying lifting blocks...?

here is a quick pic, im going to get it cleaned up sometime this week and post more pics.

and just for fun, here is one of the drag car that it will be towing.

Nice truck, welcome. Our trucks have a free lift kit built into them, if you crank the torsion bars and level it out you can fit 35's, though since you tow you'll want to get a set of add a leafs for the rear so she doesn't squat.

Hell... if i had the money right now, I'd want to take those wheels off your hands. I really like the heritage wheels and want to get a set for my 03.

it's not a ws6 but built way past what a ws6 is. (only difference in ws6 vs others is hood and suspension....my suspension isn't stock, nor is hood...im shooting for LOW LOW 10's or high 9's this year.

when you say i need a set of add a leafs, is this a necessity right now before i tow? how do i tell if the truck already has these? the bed has been drilled for a fifth wheel, so im assuming the previous owner did plenty of towing.

are these wheels worth more then others? how much could i expect to sell them for?

It isn't required, but it will help it handle the weight better. Especially after you crank the torsion bars, if you chose to do so.

The truck has 177xxx miles so i wouldn't lift it assuming you'd be upsizing tires too (unless you plan on re-gearing). That's a lot to ask of a truck nearing 200k to lift it with big tires, stock gears, and expect it to be your tow rig.

Good looking truck. I would stick to just running 33's since you want to use it as a towing rig

i haven't decided if i am going to fix the doors or not. i don't know if i really want to invest the money in the body. if it wasn't the 2 tone then i would probably just see about find 2 doors of the same color, but i highly doubt that will be easy in my case.
