Default new ford guy needs help

Hey I'm a first time ford owner and this is my first gas burner. I have a 99 f-150 4.2 5-speed. The heat doesn't work on it at all and the truck will sputter from time to time at low RPM's or when its in a strain. Had the codes ran and it says something about a vacum hose being off or kinked. Could the two problems be related and if so any help on finding the problem? Thanks guys.

Pull the heater and air conditioning contoll panel and make sure all of the vaccum lines are connected in back first, if that is not the issue then the no heat is probably due to a bad heater core, and the P.O. took the hose off and recirculated back into the engine, look for a black hose looping from and back to the engine on the passenger side. If that is not it, it could be the blender door, do some research on here, there are inexpensive ways to fix that.

As far as the vaccum leak goes that is going to take some time and tenacity to find if it is indeed a bad hose or kinked, check the rubber connections inbetween the hard lines.
