Default new engine noise.....

I just got done putting in a brand new water pump and am now noticing a knocking/tapping noise coming from the engine...... when I accelerate I notice it doesn't pick up the pace as fast as the engine does.... Any ideas??

it's not a fast knocking, more of a consistent slow ( reminds me of a diesel engine pace )

I can't be sure this is it but ford has a tsb on the 5.4l a knocking sound from the bottom end/ manifold area due to exhaust pulses echoing from the cats. Mine does it.

It was making the sound all the time.... It stopped yesterday and the check engine light came on. Got it checked today and it said po340... cam shaft sensor..... Engine has been struggling since i put the pump in.... Sounds like my engines out of time

Just talked to my mechanic, the sensor that was lighting up the check engine light is bad, its a sensor that communicates with the camshaft that is very close to the water pump.... :/
