So I just put a 98 5.4 into my 97 5.4 f150.
I`ve got all the wires connected except for the air filter & the injectors .
I`ve pulled the fuel pump fuse and plugs so I can turn the motor over to prime the oil system as best I can.
I`ve also checked the tranny connections and they look good , shifting to N makes no diff.
There is no sound at all but the dash lights do come on.
What am I missing?

You're saying the engine won't turn over? Check main fuses all the way to the starter, plus grounds including the starting relay and its' circuit.

 

Shift cable is way stretched so I`ll have to replace it. That was the problem.

 

That will do it for sure.
