Did you put it in or did the dealer put it in?

Don't forget the year, 4x4 or 4x2 and the motor you've got.

It's a 2001 f150 4.2 2wd.I had it installed by a certified mechanic the first time,i put dye in the oil he still couldnt find it after charging me $200 to put a rear main in.That did'nt fix it .Took it to another Certified Mechanic authorized to install this brand of rebuilt engine and now it's leaking in the same spot. After he said the head was leaking on the first one. Please give me some ideas. Thanks, Plug

Is it leaking from the front of the head, back of the head, somewhere under the heads. What is the highest part of the engine with oil on it, the highest point is generally the source of the leak, because the oil drips down the rest of the motor.

Back of the head running down between engine and transmission. It quits leaking after you shut engine off.The puddle under the truck is exactly the same size on both engines, after shut down.

Best/cheapest bet is the intake gasket and valve cover gaskets.

All that was needed was to change the intake on each engine, that is the only thing in common to both engines, but mech. said there was no oil under intake to leak out.wonder what the odds of both engines coming from the factory with the same identical problem is?

Slim to none. It's got to be a warped/cracked intake or it was poorly installed, possibly not torqued, or the gasket got messed up, because he must have put a new gasket in when he put the intake back on. Without seeing it there's not much else I can tell you.

I mean nothing's 100%, but to me since the intake is what's in common it's the most likely cause of the leak.
