hello men new to forum.started having skip/misfire @ 1 yr ago after computer reset truck 2001 f-150 xlt 4.2 ltr v-6 never had problems till i connected battery next day and got a skip in it after letting sit 6 hrs it ran alright until a couple months later it would skip for a few minites after cranking then run fine.this past weekend replaced battery no problems got on road trip and check eng light flashed @ 7 times under load in od going up hill.i know that flash indicated misfire made it home by babying it.went mechanic next day and replaced ignition coil pack and now it runs even worse mechanic now says maybe ecm.any help would be greatly appreciated.....

I do not think it is the PCM. I assume that you have a misfire code. If so, pull the plug for that cylinder and check the plug. Clean out the plug socket round wire plumbers brush, WD 40 and rags Reinstall plug or new plug. Check plug wire and if corroded or damaged, replace it. For best results use di electric grease on the electrical connections. You can get this at Autozone or similar for a few bucks but it makes sure you get a good connection. While doing this, make sure you are not leaking oil or coolant into the plug sockets. good luck
