Neutral/Park wire in cab?
Wondering if there's a neutral/park indication wire accessible under the dash someplace so I can tie into it with my remote start. I've searched here and other places, and only find reference to the switch itself being on the trans. There's got to be a signal up front someplace, right? (The only wire reference I found was a red/lt-blu wire, but that's a starter wire.)
I probably don't *need* to connect this, because the keys would be out of the truck, and about the only way to do that is to have the thing in Park to begin with; however, I want to may it 100% fool-proof/mistake-proof/what-if-proof.
Thanks in advance,
Andy
P.S. I could use the parking brake switch, but don't want to have to set it each time I park.

The only reason to hook that wire up is if you have a manual transmission. It prevents the remote start from tripping the starter if the vehicle is left parked in gear and causing damage to the starter or whatever might be in front/behind the vehicle. I questioned the loose wire when I had my remote starter installed and that was the reason given.
There is be a wire in the steering column harness that drops down to the neutral safety switch. I had a buddy of mine that ran a jumper on his after it shorted out. Worked great as a security device.....if you didn't know you had to jump the wire it wouldn't start! You can trace it up from the switch, it's pretty easy (once you get under the vehicle).

Thanks, guys. If this was a manual, there's no question that that wire is needed, but with an auto, there is almost no scenario where I'd try to use the remote starter when the truck isn't in Park. I'm just going to ground that wire out, but it's also good to know there's a wire heading to the switch if I need it.
