Default Needs some excitement from 4.2L

So we have had my 1998 F150 since I was 8(in 1998) I put it on Craigslist to sell for a whole hour until I realized I couldn't part from it. My truck is completely stock and I think it is time for some excitement in mine and her lives! Any performance Mods that are must have for this beauty? O and should I get the K&N or MAC CAI?

Unless you want under hood bling with the aftermarket CAI, just do the Gotts mod. A SCT x3 programmer will be your best investment for power. Then if you want a little more beyond that look into efans.

Dual catback exhaust no mufflers.... If you absolutly want a CAI you can get one off ebay for 60 bucks..(thats what i got on my 02)... Efans.... If its automatic you need an programmer and you will notice a big difference.... Fresh fluids and plugs and wires.. fuel filter.. clean the MAF.. and throttle body...

The best way to make that truck (or any truck) exciting is with a 5 speed manual transmission. All the mods in the world cannot replace a 5 speed for fun driving.

I would start with Bob's recommendations first, and then on to Otto's. I have a 97 F-150 that my family's had since I was 9, and I just can't seem to part with it.

I'm sorry but no mufflers on a V6 sounds like a lawnmower. Go with dual Dynomax bullets if exhaust were to be first. 2.25" mandrel bent piping would be best for duals.

O and I'm looking at a flow masters 40 series for the muffler, saw a video on YouTube and they sounded amazing for a 4.2L but I'm still looking for videos on the dynomax exhaust

Sounds like a good plan.

And I know people are gonna say I'm wasting my money on a V6 but when you become this attached to a truck might as well throw money into because I'm never selling it haha
