Default Need quick input, starting problem

I have a 2001 Screw KR with 139,xxx miles on it (5.4L V-8 Auto, 4x4)

I have been having a bad problem with my start-up cycle, when I go to crank it, it takes 4-5 seconds of hard cranking before it will finally fire. I have had suggestions of getting spark plugs replaced, and I am taking the truck into Firestone today to have that done. I am going to get the Plugs replaced as well as a full fuel system cleaning, but in relation to this problem, are their any other things that I should look at getting replaced?

Brand new fuel pump (2 months old) and brand new fuel filter (1 week old) on the truck currently. Never had a misfire or CEL since the problem has occurred, and once the truck is running, it runs like normal.

Any input before I take it in and drop the $$$ would be much appreciated.

Happy Hump Day

What fuel pump did you put in?

Not all pumps are created equal

It was the Motorcraft one, pretty sure. Ran me about $300. Had Firestone do the replacement.

Sounds like you are doing all the right things. if you have not done it for a while, you could change the air filter, clean the maf sensor, change the pcv valve. you dont need firestone for these since you can easily DIY.

I have a new air filter in there now, less than 4 months old, and MAF sensor is clean as well. I hate having to take it to the shop, but sometimes I just gotta bite the bullet
