Need help with power windows.
I have a 99 f-150 and the other day my passenger power window stopped working, it wont go up or down from ether side. The drivers side window still works fine. The worst part is that my passenger window is stuck down!
Any ideas?

If the dome light dims when you press the button, you can probably get it to work temporarily by hitting the bottom of the door with a rubber mallot while perssing the up button. If that works, you'll soon need a motor.
Grab the top of the window, have someone push the switch for the window to go up, and gently pull to help. Move your fingers just before it gets to the top and real fast push gently with your hands to get it to go all the way into the top seal.
That has always worked for me until I can get it fixed.
If it wants to fall again, use some duct tape.
As for the cause, it has always been a regulator not the motor in every vehicle I had that did that. The regulator is just a type of cable or gear assembly that moves the window up and down as the motor turns it.
The reason they stick in the down position is it is easy for the window to go down but tough to go back up because of the weight of the window.

i have the exact opposite my passenger window goes up fine but sluggish when going down, but if i pulse it once sometimes twice then it will go down smoothly. could it be the plastic bushings in the regulator?
It's that friggin Ford power window regulator.
Those things break constantly.
You can get them online from part places for $20.00 to 50.00 for the best quality. My experience is they all break sooner than later. Bad news is they take some time to replace and you have to take off the door panel, remove 5 bolts, pull out the motor and regulator, cut your hand, etc.
I have a Crown Vic and it breaks one those things every year and every single window. Right now not one window works as all are now broken.
I am sick of replacing them. They will all go down but if they do, you have to use your hand to pull them up again. The motors are fine, the regulator design is pure crap.
When I got my Ford 150 I waited to find one with manual windows (and a 5 speed).
Problem solved, my windows always work great, for the truck that is.
My advice to anyone is if you are looking for a 97 -2003 F 150, try to get one with manual windows.
Did I mention the design for the Ford window regulators is crap?
Did I say crap? I meant PURE crap.
