Default Need help with a P743 engine code

hey everyone , Im new to the forum and wanted to say thanks in advance. I have a 2000 ford f150 4x4 with a 4.6. I am showing a check engine code of a p743. It all started out one day I was at a stop lights my RPMS dropped and then died. I started it the rpms went up I pushed the gas and would barely move. After a few seconds it ran perfect. Then a couple of days later no problems at all. Now it is sputtering constantly is the best way I can explain it. The tranny is not slipping and the rpms seem to be normal. I checked the code again and it is a p743.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Also what kind of money am I looking at?

Thanks so much for all of the help

Check the wiring harness going into the tranny for any rubs or breaks. The problem is with the torque converter clutch solenoid.

Thank so much for getting back so quick I will do that tomorrow. If that is not the case and I have to actually replace that how expensive is that and how hard is it to change?

Thanks again

The solenoid is behind the valve body so the pan would have to be dropped and the valve body removed to access it. Not a big deal for someone who works on trannys everyday.

Thanks for ll of the help. Good deal I am up that away all the time. My company has a office in Hendersonville and one of my coworkers lives right off your exit.
