Ive got a 97 xlt with 5.4 ext cab when i bought it it didnt have a towing hitch on it it had a hole in the bed where there was a 5th wheel. I bought a reese hitch for it and bolted it up and noticed while bolting it up towards the end of framerail it was rusted out pretty bad and thin. Well we put it in anyway and did weld a small piece of channel to help reinforce it. Well over the weekend i pulled my buddies camper with it not a big heavy camper maybe 2500#. Long story short the frame broke where i had the hitch bolted on on each side of the frame rail at the back end of the frame. Both sides in the front were still bolted and in tact but each side in the back is broke and gone. I really need to have my hitch on here does anyone have any ideas as to how i can reinforce it and be able to re mount my hitch and be able to tow around the farm again??
