Default Need help with acceleration issue in reverse

First...hope it's o.k. that I am posting about a 250 in the 150 forum. I have a 97 F-250. We have a problem with it accelerating to quickly in reverse. Or it doesn't respond with slight pressure then shoots out suddenly. Problem is that when we try to back in to hook up our trailer we go through hell just trying not to hit the trailer with the sudden back-up of the truck (extremely frustrating). Any suggestions?

Thanks! Another thread made a good point too. The truck doesn’t reverse in idle either. Maybe that might be a key point? I’ll clean it and see if that helps.....time for the lady to start figuring out mechanics I guess
