Then why not just buy used heads? Or did they fry your block when they went.

motor has 148000, I figure previous owner who screwed me on the truck got it hot a few times also. Apparently the problem started after head gaskets where installed. If you driver it real easy it doesn't get hot. Drive it at 70 mph it gets hot. I have been told that r and r motor is the same cost as replacing heads. once motor gets to operating temp it starts to miss. I assuming there is some coolant getting into combustion chamber. Used Alum heads kind of scare me.

Used heads shouldnt scare you anymore than a new motor. 150k isnt a ton of miles. You will be better off looking into a truck motor though.

I am being told the block, crank, cam, heads are the same whether truck or car. Just called salvage yard again. I questioned him on that exactly. He said intake, exhaust, and flywheel has to be changed. Sorry to be a PITA but I am trying to stop the bleeding.

If I'm not mistaken the power range is different on car engines. I would investigate it and not take someone's word.

You are correct. 20 hp less and 25 ft pounds more torque. Very strange. But in my mind intake and exhaust could make those differences.

Whether it will work or not depends on the new used engine. Is it PI or non PI ? What year is the motor you plan on swapping in?

Personally, I'd swap in a 99+ 5four F150 truck engine and not waste time with anything else.
