Default Mysterious part help

Can anybody help me identify this? I know its some sort of filter, my best guess is tranny fluid filter? Its located right under the front skidplate. It has the number XC37-7B1555-BA on it. Thanks in advance

That's an in-line trans filter. Ford used to mandate installation of these on the return line.
