I have a '97 F150 4x4 with 4 wheel lever on floor.
Does this model have a transfer case motor (TCM) as I'm unable to locate.
Just what has to happen to engage 4 wheel with this set up?
In my case, no light on dash when lever is pulled into 4Hi and no drive shaft movement.
Replaced both activation/deactivation solinoids on firewall.
Both receive vacuum but do not "click", or pass vacuum when lever is moved to 4Hi.
Power is @ solenoid, but not grounded by GEM.
The tcase (via lever) goes to 4Low and light on dash indicates "low range" but still no front drive activated.
Definitely in "low range" but no 4 wheel.
Question is:
What does the GEM need to know before sending power to the firewall solenoids?
What other electrical sensors or switches have to pass info to GEM?
Both fuses (30amp under hood and 10 amp in cab) are OK.
Don't want to start replacing more parts without some expert input.
Thanks in advance.
